Silent Sunday

  1. I know it’s not Christmas, and I know Rudolph has headed off to the islands for a well-deserved vacation, but I thought of this charmer as soon as I saw your photo. I hope you don’t get this much snow, but I’ll bet Monkey would have just as much fun in it.

    • Now, that’s a dog who loves romping through the snow! I got a kick out of seeing him, Linda — thank you. Of course, that snow was way better for romping, too. Ours has frozen and re-frozen so many times (and it was the heavy, wet type to begin with) that even poor Monk has trouble walking across it — his paws keep sinking to the ground!

  2. I took Pen out for her last pee of the night and as was admiring the stars I heard a little squeak and she jumped about 4 feet straight up in the air and then headed for the house. No pee. I don’t know if she found a mouse, or she just bruised her nose on the sharp, crusty snow. But since there was no pee she asked to go out about 20 minutes later and had to sniff EVERY SINGLE CREVICE in the snow….so I suspect she found a mouse.

    • Eeek!! Monk is pretty good (especially as the temps drop) at going out to do his business. Not that he particularly likes it when his paws drop through the snow all the way to the ground. I guess that must be a surprise to him. But he saves enough energy to chase every squirrel and cat that dares show its face!

  3. LOVE this photo, Debbie!

Hope you’re having a fabulous Sunday, my friend!

X to you and the Monk!

P.S. It’s snowing here today as well.

    • Thanks, Ron. The snow isn’t so bad; it’s the below-zero temperatures I can do without. And the wind! Mercy, it’s been a rough winter thus far, and Spring feels like a LONG way off. Stay warm out there! XX

    • Hi, Audrey, nice to see you again! It’s been below freezing here, too. In fact, I struggle to stand outside and wait for the Monk to do his business. What is it they say? Something about the miserableness of the weather being equal to the length of time they take to potty??

  4. Monkey is certainly getting the enlightenment of experiences now that he is a mature 4 year old! Looks like Monkey enjoys the snow regardless of the freezing temperatures!!

Yorkie is preparing for our winter blast blowing in tonight. Warnings have been issued. Extreme cold rain followed by snow then a hard freeze. I’m glad that she is trained to use her fancy indoor potty box. Neither of us have any interest in making yellow snow. We will watch the weather from our comfy warm windows as long as the power stays on!

    • TD, you and Yorkie stay inside if you can. It’s bitterly COLD out there! How I wish I’d been smart enough to train Monk to use a toilet — wouldn’t that be something?!

Standing outside while he sniffs around and searches for just the right spot to “go” seems to take longer in this type of weather. And it hardly seems worth my layering up for what I tell myself shouldn’t take too long. Of course, I wouldn’t want to have to potty in such conditions!

    • He does seem to love it, too. At least he did when it first arrived. Now that it’s ice-covered and below zero, I think he’s kind of over it!

    • Monk does, for sure. I stand outdoors with him in the wee morning hours, shivering with the cold, and there he is, sniffing and taking his precious time. Sometimes I just have to watch from indoors, rather than subjecting myself to the misery!
