Most of us, in all conditions, are weighted down with superfluities or worried to acquire them. ~Charles Dudley Warner, American essayist and novelist
Can’t you see yourself
Curled up on this seat?
Nestled ‘neath the trees
Away from the noisy street?
Can’t you feel the wind
Gently caressing your face?
Playing with your hair?
Slowing your hectic pace?
Can’t you hear the quiet
As peace envelopes you,
Casts aside your burdens,
Bestows a calmer view?
Our lives are often fraught
With too much activity.
Time to take a needed break,
Nurture my creativity.
Note: Happy Labor Day! I’m taking a short break and will be back soon.

Blog breaks are good. 🙂 Enjoy Labor Day weekend and see you on return.
Thanks, Frank. Hope your holiday is restful, too.
“Nestled ‘neath the trees
Away from the noisy street?”
Yes, Debbie, I most certainly can. It’s about this time of the year when I have the desire to get out of the city and spend more time closer to nature, enjoying the peace and quiet. Summer is not my favorite season; particularly in living in a city, with the constant sensory overload of noise, smells, and people. I am so looking forward to autumn, when everything quiets down. And I can start making yummy soups with bead and butter. Autumn equals = cozy time!
Happy Labor Day, my friend. Enjoy your break. See ya’ when you get back.
Awesome poem! Awesome photograph!

Thank you, Ron. I’m glad you liked the scene … and the verse. I’m right there with you — Fall is my favorite season. Not too hot, not too cold, not too wet. The weather folks are predicting that September will be way hotter here than usual, though (groan!)
See you when I get back — have a wonderful holiday! xx
Lovely poem, Debbie! Yes I definitely can imagine myself curled up on that seat under those beautiful trees. They remind me of my beloved hemlock tree when I was a child. Only I didn’t have a nice bench to sit on so I spent plenty of time sitting up in the branches. Enjoy your blogging break!
You spent time hanging out in trees, too? Wasn’t that just a delightful way to be a kid, Barbara? We had an immense maple on the line between our house and a neighbor’s, and we spent countless days among its branches. What a great spot to read and think!
There’s nothing like celebrating Labor Day by not laboring! Enjoy your time away from the blogs, and your immersion into trees, benches, flowers, books… whatever pleases you!
Thank you, Linda. I hope you have a lovely Labor Day, too! There’s something necessary about taking time off now and then, don’t you think?!
Enjoy your time to yourself, Debbie.
I intend to try, John. Of course, our beastly heat is set to return on Sunday, so Monk and I might just be hanging out in the air conditioning!
That is good too. 😊
Good for you! njoy.
Thanks, Cindy. I won’t be gone long, but I do feel the need to step back from the hustle and bustle! Enjoy your Labor Day!
Enjoy your time off!
I’m going to try. Happy Labor Day, Dawn — give Penny a hug from me!
Enjoy your time away, relax and enjoy!
Thanks, Eliza, I hope it’s relaxing. Have a lovely Labor Day!
Enjoy your break!
I hope to, Ann — Happy Labor Day to you and yours!
Lovely poem, Debbie! Have a great break!
I’m so glad you liked it! I’ll be back soon.
