The Christmas tree is a symbol of love… ~Andy Rooney, American radio and TV writer
I
Become
Dazzling
When my lady
Hangs decorations
On my branches and then
Steps back to admire the view.
Red ornaments and golden bows
Make me feel like a real Christmas tree,
Proving once again all trees are special.
Note: Poetry form is Etheree. I’ll be taking a few days off to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. Please, everyone, have a safe and beautiful Christmas and New Year’s Day!

Growing bigger by the day, it makes a lovely holiday tree! 🙂
Thanks, Eliza. I think it rather enjoyed being all decked out for the season, too.
Tiny tree is beautifully decorated! And a lovely poem to go long with this special tree.
I was raised to believe that the Christmas Tree is a symbol of Life.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, and of course Monkey too! 🎄
Thank you, TD. I’m glad you enjoyed seeing it all decorated. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
Your little tree looks fabulous. Thanks for sharing this photo, Debbie.
I’m happy you enjoyed seeing my tiny tree, John. Even without a string of lights, it looks so festive (though I did have some trouble fastening a bow to its topmost bough!)
😁
Beautiful! Both the poem and the tree! Merry Christmas, Debbie!
Thanks very much, Kelly — Happy Christmas to you and yours!
Dazzling indeed! What a beautiful tree this little one is becoming! Red and gold are definitely her colors. Merry Christmas, Debbie! 🎄
Barbara, I’m delighted you liked this! I suppose “Tiny Tree” would look even merrier with a dusting of snow, but so far, none of that here (and none predicted for Christmas). At least I’m not having to shovel, ha!
“Make me feel like a real Christmas tree,
Proving once again all trees are special.”
Yes they are, Debbie! Special indeed!
LOVE your photograph of the tree, as well as your words.
Wishing you, Monkey, and Domer a very Merry Christmas and New Year’s Day!
Here’s to a fabulous 2024, my friend!
X
Ron, thanks so much for your kind words — I’m glad this poem and photo made you smile. It was rather hard decorating “Tiny,” actually. I guess I didn’t realize a Juniper’s needles were so prickly! You’d think “Tiny” would’ve been happy to have me hang ornaments and bows (and would’ve returned the favor by softening things up a bit), but no. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I got rudely stuck — and it hurt! Happy Christmas and New Year, my friend! xx
Here — I think you know the tune!
O Etheree, O Etheree,
how lovely are thy verses!
O Etheree, O Etheree,
how lovely are thy verses!
You celebrate the Christmas tree,
its bows and balls and greenery!
O Etheree, O Etheree,
You brighten every corner!
Merry Christmas to you, Domer, and Monkey!
Linda, I love it — thank you! Yes, of course I recognized the tune — how clever you are! (Why didn’t I think of that?!?) I’m happy you introduced me to Etherees so long ago. For some reason, I particularly like the challenge of writing one (especially the double variety), and I really enjoy seeing the shape the words make. (We all have our quirks!) Happy Christmas to you, too!
All trees are definitely special. 🙂
Indeed they are, Dawn. And to think this little guy was once so tiny, I could measure him with one hand!
Yeah!!!!! The once very-little-one continues to grow. I smiled seeing this. 🙂
Thank you, Frank. I’m happy you’re celebrating “Tiny’s” growth with me. He’s a fine-looking tree, and I’m eagerly anticipating what he might look like by next Christmas. Bet I won’t be able to hang a star on his highest bough by then!
I recall when you introduced Tiny to us … and I recall encouraging you to keep it and update us! 🙂
That you did, and I thank you! He probably ought to be re-named though — maybe in the new year.
Tiny grows into Tiny No More
… or No Longer Tiny
The tiny tree looks amazing! From one little red ribbon to being all decked out in Christmas finery – lovely! Merry Christmas, Debbie – have a wonderful time! 🎅

How pretty! Merry Christmas!
I have also been blessed with a little red cedar. We moved into our house in March 2020 and he was just a little sprig. It has been utter joy to watch him grow, and now there is also a junior right next to him, too! Yours and mine look very similar in size. I’m looking forward to watching him, and his little buddy, flourish over time!
Thank you, Maria — both for visiting and letting me know you did! Isn’t it wonderful to have a new tree without going through the effort to do anything special for it?!! I suppose birds planted mine, and it never asks a thing of me — no extra water or fertilizer. Who knows how big it might be if I’d really played Helicopter Mom over it??! Here’s hoping yours, too, will bring many smiles!
