Looking for Spring

A rose can say I love you,
Orchids can enthrall.
But a weed bouquet in a chubby fist—
Oh my, that says it all!

If dandelions

show up, isn’t it likely

Spring will show up, too?

Note: Poetry form is Haiku. Happy Easter to one and all!

  1. There’s nothing like a dandelion to sing spring! I gave dandelion bouquets to my mother, my grandmother, the neighbor, a teacher: the impulse seems irresistible to children — thank goodness!

    Happy Easter to you, Debbie!

    • When Domer was a wee lad playing T-ball, he often brought me a bouquet of Daffodils in the Spring. I guess we’re fortunate nobody hit him with a baseball while he was in the outfield, collecting posies for his mama! Happy Easter, Linda!

  2. Debbie I love that quote at the top of your post…

“But a weed bouquet in a chubby fist—
Oh my, that says it all!”

    …LOL!

Love your Haiku as well! Reminds me of when I was kid, and how we would pick the dandelions in our backyard and make bouquets of them that we’d place in small orange juice glasses.

Happy Easter to you and Monkey! X

    • Isn’t that a great little rhyme, Ron? I can still almost see little Domer’s fingers (not chubby, though!) wrapped tightly around a bunch of Dandelions. Strange, but I don’t remember picking them for my own mom!

What a good memory my post stirred up for you — do you remember when jelly used to come in itty-bitty glasses? Mom never could seem to throw them away when they were empty, preferring to convert them into juice glasses!

      Happy Easter, my friend! xx

    • Barbara, I expect the bees are delighted at finding things to eat right now. Even though we really didn’t have as harsh a winter as usual, finding growing things after such a long fast must be heavenly for nature’s critters. Happy Easter!

  3. Wonderful!! I love haiku and have written a fair amount of it for my faith blog. I think I’ve posted some on my secular blog, too. Now I’ll be thinking in 5/7/5 the rest of the day!

    • Ooh, I’m glad to hear you write haiku, too, Kelly! Isn’t it funny how that 5/7/5 scheme gets into your brain and won’t let go? I find strains of music do that, too, especially when we’ve been practicing hard for some band concert or other! Better to have something pleasant to focus on, rather than something dreary, right?!

    • I did … despite the rain. And the old-timers say if it rains on Easter Sunday, it will rain for the next SEVEN Sundays. Argh!! That, we surely don’t need!
