Chipmunk scurrying
Where ya goin’, Little Guy?
Too busy to talk.
Note: I’m participating in WordPress’s 2018 Photo Challenge. This week’s topic is A Face in the Crowd. I took this shot while visiting the Chicago Botanic Garden with my son a couple of years ago and this seems as good a chance as I might ever have to show it to you.
OMG Debbie, how CUTE!!! Whenever I see a chipmunk, I think of the cartoon I used to watch when I was a kid….”Alvin and Chipmunks!”
Fun post, my friend! And great photo capture!
X
Thanks, Ron. I loved those chipmunks, too! Weren’t they the cutest things?? I’m still shaking my head over this photo. This little guy scooted out from under a bench or something, and my first instinct was to snap his picture. I can’t believe it came out as clear as it did, considering how FAST he moved!! Woo-Hoo, it’s almost the weekend! xx
cutey!
Thanks, Cindy. I’m positive you could’ve captured him and all his friends, but I did good to get just him!!
Ha ha ha. Good one, Debbie.
Thank you, John. Right place at the right time and all.
I can see you laying in wait.
Oh no!! Domer and I were minding our own business when he just popped out! I’m still amazed I had the presence of mind to whip out my phone, ha!
I would say. Your bloggers instinct.
Aw, so sweet! We don’t have chipmunks sadly – I think you should send us some. 😉 Love the haiku – you’re so good at them!
No chipmunks?? I didn’t realize that, FF. We see a LOT of them on golf courses. I imagine all those trees are beneficial habitats, not to mention the large areas for burrowing underground. I doubt anybody could catch one and transplant it across the Pond. Sorry!!
Well, if you’re going to post a face from the crowd, you might as well post a cute one, and this is high-calibre cute. I’d say he’s smart as well as cute. What little chipmunk wouldn’t want to live in a botanical garden?
You’re right on both counts, Linda — he’s cute AND smart!! I had no idea the poor little dears have a lifespan of only about 3 years though. I remember golfing with Domer when he was in high school, and we saw a lot of these little guys on the golf course. I never managed to react fast enough to snap their photos then because they hurried into their burrows — probably afraid some idiot would aim for them!
He is the cutest thing! And he does look busy. Aww his little face! And I completely agree with the opening quote. I try to remind myself of this daily.
I like that quote, too, Lucy, but there are days when I find myself scurrying just like this chipmunk. And those are the very days I might “accomplish” a lot but come away with very few wonderful memories! Don’t you just want to hold him in your hands and stroke his fur?!
I want to give him a little cuddle!
Do you walk around with a camera everywhere you go to get all these great shots?
HaHa, no! I just get lucky sometimes! He was scooting by so fast that I didn’t think I’d gotten anything but a blur. Imagine my surprise when he came into view!
I love that quote! Good advice for humans, if not for chipmunks 🙂
Hi Gretchen, and thanks for stopping by! Yep, this is a wonderful quote, one I need to remind myself of several times a day!
