There once was a squirrel so sweet
Who climbed up the house to eat.
He perched on the sill
And sat there quite still
Until it was time to repeat!
Note: Poetic form is a Limerick. This little darling scales up two stories to perch on our window sill nearly every day. He usually brings a spot of food with him, too. Just look at his tiny hands!! Domer is home for the holidays, so I’m taking a few days off to play. Merry Christmas, one and all — I’ll be back soon!
Fun on many levels. What a sweet winter visitor.
Thanks, Barb — Merry Christmas to you and yours!!
I love limericks, and I love squirrels, so this is a perfect combination. It reminds me that animals love Christmas, too — so it’s off to see if I can help Santa Claws find Dixie a suitable gift.
Enjoy the holidays, and your time with Domer!
Animals DO love Christmas, Linda, and I’m sure Dixie’s behavior has been purrfect, so she needs a present! Funny how cat-owners refer to the man in red as Santa Claws, while we dog-owners call him Santa Paws! Merry Christmas to you, my friend!
I love limericks and this ones a doozy. Though I can’t help but be reminded of how someone once told me that squirrels are nothing more than rats with fluffy tails. Keep smiling!
When they topple over the bird feeder, Monica, I’m inclined to agree they’re rats with fluffy tails, ha! Their antics do make for much amusement, though. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
AWWWWWWWWWWW, I just love him!!!)))) Xx Merry Christmas!
Kim, I’m always humbled by your praise — thank you. Merry Christmas, my friend, to you and yours!
SOOOOOO cute & love the poem!
Thank you sooo much, Cindy — Merry Christmas to you and the entire Holler!!
Nice Limerick and cute squirrel. Merry Christmas.
Thank you, John. Merry Christmas right back at ya, to you and yours!
Thank you Debbie
Merry Christmas, Debbie! I’m surprised Dallas doesn’t chase him off. What a good dog. Enjoy the time with your son!
Glad you mentioned that, DD — when poor Dallas saw that squirrel sitting on the sill, he had a hissy-fit! He soo wanted to give chase, and the squirrel had that smug look on his face, kind of like, Can’t get me here, big guy!! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Debbie, both the photo and your limerick are BEYOND priceless! As I think you already know, I LOVE squirrels! And that is the CUTEST squirrel I’ve ever seen!
Have a faaaaaabulous time with your son. Wishing you, your son, and Dallas a very Merry Christmas!
Cheers, my friend!
X
Ron, thanks so much for your too-kind words! They’re much appreciated, you know, as it takes a super leap of bravery to put them out there!
Isn’t he just the cutest thing? Now, if he’d just quit running off all the birds and peacefully coexist! Merry Christmas, my dear, to you and yours!

That squirrel is adorable and the poem made me smile 🙂
Glad I was able to make you smile, Janna. He is pretty cute, isn’t he (I just love his little hands!!) Merry Christmas to you and yours!
You, your squirrel and son have a very Merry Christmas!!
Thank you, Tanya, and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Aw, he’s so sweet! I love squirrels!
Have a great Christmas, Debbie! 🙂
I’ll bet Tommy and Tuppence would love to play with him, FF! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Merry Christmas, Debbie! I think that’s the perfect place to have a snack, too.
He’s at least safe from the big furry dog — and he can eat his meal in peace! Merry Christmas, Professor, to you and yours!
Merry Christmas to you and yours! Also to the squirrel! 🙂
Thanks, Dawn. The hungry little fur-ball is driving poor Dallas nuts with his chattering, gathering, and digging — not to mention that flitting tail-thingy they all do! Merry Christmas to all of you as well!
