Best friends don’t necessarily have to talk every day. They don’t even need to talk for weeks. But when they do, it’s like they never stopped talking. ~Author unknown
Dallas here.
Bet you’ve missed hearing from me, huh?
Guess WHAT?
The Kid (AKA Domer) is coming home soon!
Not to stay forever, Mama says. Just for a visit. Kind of like when he came home from school, then took off again.
But that’s okay. Any time The Kid comes home is Happy Time for me. He brings youthful energy, lots more noise, more bustling around. Plus, he makes my mama happy!
Now I haven’t heard The Kid’s voice in a looooong time, but Shelties never forget. Sometimes when he’s talking to Mama on the phone, she puts it to my ear, and I can listen. I’ve got her trained that way!
Anywho, we’ve got preparations to tend to before he gets here. Mama races to town to buy his favorite foods (a kid’s gotta eat!). She spiffs up his room. She reschedules nonessential work. And makes sure I’m groomed and sweet-scented for cuddling (I could easily do without the grooming, but I love cuddling!)
Don’t I look cuddly??
Mama thinks I look sad in this photo, but I’m not. Not really. I’m just trying to look cute.
You see, Mama had a cookie, and I wanted it…a lot.
And I figured if my puppy-dog eyes couldn’t get her to part with at least part of that cookie, why, she must have grown a hard heart. (We dogs have to test that now and then.)
But you know what?
She didn’t! I got the cookie.
And soon I’ll have The Kid home to beg from, too.
Life’s good!
Dallas you look awesome as always! What a thing. This is perfect. You and Domer can play all sorts of fun games together–like ball, for instance. That’s a classic. Plus, fav foods sound awesome as well.
Thank you, Mr. Professor Sir! My mama plays ball with me, so that’s not what I’m waiting for. It’s that “Chase” game I’m hoping The Kid will play with me — it’s loads of fun, and Mama just refuses to do it (probably ‘cos she slipped once too often and crashed to the floor, heehee!!)
Ahh, chase. That is a game for epic fun.
You know it, then? Ah, Professor, I’ll bet you’re expert at chase!
He is such a beautiful dog. And animals know; don’t they? They sense energy and know hearts. Have a very sweet visit!
Thank you, Miss Barbara — Mama and I are looking forward to having him home!
Yes Dallas, I HAVE missed hearing from you! In fact, I was jumping up and down when I saw that you had posted today!!!!!!!!!!!
Great news about Domer coming home for a visit. And I bet you are too!
“Sometimes when he’s talking to Mama on the phone, she puts it to my ear, and I can listen. I’ve got her trained that way!”
HAHAHHA! You crack me up!
Wishing you, Mama, and Domer a super weekend!
P.S. I love that picture of you. You’re adorable!
Gee, Mr. Ron, I’d be blushing if I could — well, maybe I am, but you just can’t tell under all my fur!!
Mama says it looks like you’re going to get some cold and snow this weekend, so you be careful out there, okay?! Hugs and sloppy doggie-kisses to you!
Yay, Dallas! Wylie just loves it when her kids come to visit! Enjoy!
Wylie and I know what’s important, Miss Suzi — our kids! Sure, I love my mama (and I’m certain Wylie loves you, too — after all, y’all feed us!), but it’s different with our kids…and always will be!
Hi Dallas
Yes, you’re looking particularly cuddly and those sad eyes are a great plan for getting cookies. We tend to go with threats ourselves and of course cookies don’t really work for us. But we do like to terrify our servant into giving us cheese! Enjoy your visitor! (And remember, having two servants around the place should mean double cookies…)
Love, Tommy and Tuppence
You like cheese, too? How splendid! My mama disguises my medicine in cheese — I just humor her because of course I know it’s in there but I like the cheesy taste! And you’d think having two servants around would mean more cookies, but with The Kid, it doesn’t. He never falls for my puppy-dog looks…not like Mama. Here’s to a lovely weekend, Tommy and Tuppence (and your servant, too!)
I don’t think you look sad Dallas. More thoughtful maybe.
Why, thank you, Mr. John — thoughtful is an excellent word (especially when cookies are involved!)
My expression in the presence of a cookie
Good one, John! 😉
awww, Dallas!!
Happy For you!
Hope you get cuddled and played with and fed and LOVED real GOOOOOD. xx
I am, Miss Kim. Never doubt The Kid’s ability to help spoil me rotten! xoxo
Dallas, if you’re anything like my two dog pals, you like having your mom all to yourself. But nothing beats having the human kids around because you get double the attention and double the fun! Henry and Oliver just adore when my son pops in for a visit. 🙂
