Swirling Clouds

Sometimes our thoughts
Whip around like wild things.
Innocently enough, they
Race across our brains.
Lately, mine have done just that.
In fact, perhaps that’s why I
Need to take a break of sorts to
Get back to my happy state.

Crazy, isn’t it, how we
Let ourselves run to and fro,
Or round and round.
Utter confusion reigns supreme
Despite our best intentions to
See our world in a calmer state!

Note: This is an attempt at an Acrostic Poem. I took the picture thinking I might find something to write about; instead of prose, this poem popped out! I don’t foresee a formal break any time soon, but I really do need to get back to my novel-writing. That means I’ll have to do a better job managing my time, ha!

My fellow parishioners are finally getting just what they want — they’ve succeeded in running the new priest of out town — and I’m ashamed.

Target Practice, Perhaps?

“We would just go out and line up a bunch of cans and shoot with rifles, handguns and at times, submachine guns… When I was a kid it was a controlled atmosphere, we weren’t shooting at humans… we were shooting at cans and bottles mostly. I will most certainly take my kids out for target practice.”

The other day, I caught a glimpse of something that puzzled me, so I harnessed Dallas up for a walkie to get a closer look.

Here’s what we saw:

Grasshopper Pie

Seize the moment. Remember all those women on the Titanic who waved off the dessert cart. ~Erma Bombeck

Nobody visits my blog for recipes.

That’s not a complaint — it’s just a statement. I’m a passable cook and have never poisoned anybody, but sharing recipes here just isn’t my thing.

Nevertheless….

To The Rescue

Here we go again. Once more, a client of mine has stumbled — unwittingly — into a dark cave, and I’m summoned to haul her out.

Only this time, I decided to write about it.

So other unsuspecting people won’t go through the same sort of misery. Continue reading
