A nice
Surprise when
You’re shoveling
Snow outside, look up,
And see a tree outlined
With frosting on its branches.
Only Mother Nature can make
Such a beautiful, decorated
Work of art from a leafless maple tree.

Greening and Pinking

When
You walk
With a dog
Outside in Spring,
You can’t help but see
That the world around us
Is greening and turning pink,
As new life bursts into color,
Trees shed their spent flowers, and sidewalks
Become magical pathways of beauty.

Frost
Whitens
Fallen leaves.
Outlines their veins,
Bestows a beauty
Gone since they turned color
Earlier in the season.
Something sad about the Autumn
When trees become bare and look like sticks.
As they prepare to rest for several months.
Don’t cry because leaves are not here today.
They served a purpose and now they’re gone.
Nestled together on the ground,
Sheltering grass and insects,
Enhancing the landscape.
Perpetuating
And renewing
The cycle
Of life —
Mulch.
