A few weeks ago, my mom saw a fuchsia hanging basket and she had to have it.
In fact, she had to have two.
What’s not to like about fuchsia? They make lovely pink and purple flowers which cascade delicately over the side of a container.
The day we brought home our find, the “fun” started.
Last year at this time, My Favorite Domer was walking across the stage to accept his university diploma.
I was fretting over everything from the weather (which I couldn’t control) to what to wear (which I could). And somehow, the things I worried about faded into the background, Domer graduated, and flew far from my nest, off to the Land-of-the-North.
Where he’s thrived.
Sometimes we’re fortunate to find a place we can call ‘Home’ even though we don’t live there.
A place that satisfies our deepest yearnings. That feels so comfortable and ‘right’ we can’t imagine not spending time there.
For me, that place is Gulfport, MS, nestled on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, midway between New Orleans and Mobile.
Does it sound crazy for me to admit that, as Mother’s Day approaches on Sunday, I feel conflicted over the occasion?
